0037 - Kenny

Interviewer's Note: Have you been to BooksActually? It's one of my favourite bookstores to hang out in Singapore. One thing you definitely cannot miss when you enter this independent bookstore is the pleasant scent of wood and books, and their great choice of music playing in the background. Oh, and of course their carefully curated range of great books! Today, let's find out what the bookshop penguin of this bookstore thinks about his life. :)

What do you live for?
Easy. 我为人人, 人人为我. I tend to pare it down to this classic, sometimes foolish, sometimes naive Mandarin phrase.  But generally that's how i try to lead my life as much as possible.

Why?
Because we are Humans.  Take for example, this song from The Killers "Human".  There's this line in the lyrics which is phrased as a question, and it goes like this, "Are we human, or are we dancers?"  I seriously doubt i'm a dancer, and in my case, it is easier to be a human than a dancer.  So to be human, i will have to live for others, and hopefully, others would live for me.

What is some of the best advice that you have been given/want to give our readers?
- Never listen to the first feedback given to you, in most cases at least.
- Never try, never know.
- Treat others as how you need others to treat you.
- We are not that great after all, regardless of however solid or perfect our achievements are, we are still humans.

Complete this sentence. Life is too short to...
...understand that to never try, is to never know.

Something random you'd like to say?
"Are we human, or are we dancers?"
